A massive fire has ravaged a an alcohol warehouse at Tema Community 26 in the Greater Accra Region.

The fire broke out on Sunday, July 12, triggering a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) as thick smoke billowed into the atmosphere and raised concerns among residents in the area.

To contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings, the GNFS dispatched four fire tenders from the Tema Industrial Area, Ashaiman, Tema Regional Headquarters and Dodowa fire stations.

Firefighters have been battling the flames amid challenging conditions, with the large volume of alcohol stored in the facility believed to be fuelling the intensity of the fire.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the incident, while no casualties or injuries have been officially reported so far.

The extent of damage caused by the fire remains unclear, and officials have not confirmed whether any neighbouring structures have been affected.

Emergency personnel remain on site as efforts continue to bring the situation under control.

The GNFS is expected to launch a full investigation into the incident once the fire has been completely extinguished.
