The Ghana Education Service (GES) has invited Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education across the country to participate in a nationwide training and sensitisation exercise on the 2026 School Selection Guidelines and Placement Procedures.
According to a notice dated July 6, 2026, and signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division (Secondary), the exercise is intended to equip education directors with the knowledge required to effectively supervise the school selection process.
"Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) respectfully invites all Regional and Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to attend a training and sensitisation exercise on the 2026 Selection Guidelines and Placement Procedures at your respective Regional Education Offices," the notice stated.
GES indicated that the nationwide exercise will be held from July 15 to July 28, 2026, at the various Regional Education Offices.
"The nationwide training and sensitisation exercise is scheduled for Wednesday 15th July – Tuesday, 28th July, 2026," the statement said.
According to the service, the programme is aimed at deepening participants' understanding of the guidelines governing the school selection and placement process.
"This training and sensitisation exercise is intended to provide deeper insight into the selection guidelines and enable you to offer effective oversight throughout the exercise," it noted.

The notice also announced that Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates will begin selecting their preferred senior high schools from July 20 to August 7, 2026.
"Please note that the BECE candidates will start selecting their schools from Monday, 20th July to Friday, 7th August, 2026," GES stated.
The service further disclosed that a list of participants and a detailed itinerary had been attached to guide the exercise.
"Please find attached the list of participants and detailed itinerary for your attention and guidance," the notice added.
GES urged Regional Directors of Education to communicate the information to all Metro, Municipal and District Directors within their jurisdictions and ensure their participation in the programme.
"You are kindly requested to communicate this information to all Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education within your jurisdiction and ensure their full participation," the statement said.
