The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has announced will be introduced in Ghana before the December elections, promising a reduction in public transportation costs by at least 40%
Addressing attendees at the Ofie Mega Walk in Akropong, Dr. Bawumia outlined the country's transition from diesel, gas, and petrol-powered public transport to electric vehicles.
He confirmed that all necessary estimates have been completed and assured that the electric vehicles will arrive in Ghana before the elections.
He emphasized that with the electric vehicles expected to be in place before the December elections, the cost of public transport is set to drop by at least 40%.
“I’ll change the dependence on oil and gas for fuel on public transports from diesel and petrol, we are moving to electric power, we are moving to electric vehicles. We are adding one-wheelers, two-wheelers and three-wheelers.
“We are already done with the estimates on the electric vehicles and fortunately, the buses will be in before the December election. This will enable the cost of public transportation to decrease to at least 40 per cent.”
