King Ayisoba recently recounted an intriguing meeting with the late President Jerry John Rawlings from 2020, which was inspired by a provocative lyric in one of his songs. The line, which mentioned Rawlings and Kwame Nkrumah as smokers, caught the President’s attention.
In a chat with Code Micky, Ayisoba revealed, “Rawlings had a strong affection for me. My song ‘I Want to See You, My Father’ included a line about smoking that led to my brother, Thousand Can Die, who was a soldier, arranging the meeting.”
During their interaction, Rawlings expressed his curiosity about the song and laughed when he heard the lyrics. “When we met, he asked if I was the songwriter behind ‘I Want to See You, My Father’ and mentioned he’d seen a video where I talked about him smoking. He was amused, and we took some memorable photos and videos together.”
Ayisoba believes his success as an artist is due to his sincere and authentic style.
