Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM on April 24, 2025, the “Butta My Bread” hitmaker described Ghana as the birthplace of his music journey and the foundation of his success.

“Ghana is number one because, to be honest, this is where my foundation is when it comes to music. This is where I have my DJs and my dancers, promoters; this is where I have that spirit as a musician,” he stated.

Although he hails from Liberia, J ZyNo noted that he feels more connected to Ghana’s music industry and prefers to begin all his promotional efforts in the country, regardless of where he finds himself in the world.
3
“Yes, I’m from Liberia, but I started music here so if I don’t start my promotion and stuff from here, I don’t feel like I’m promoting—even if I’m in the US or in Europe and I drop a song there. I feel like I need to do fast and go back to Ghana because this is where it started,” he said.

The singer credited his breakthrough to the success of his hit single, Butta My Bread, featuring Ghanaian artist Lasmid, which soared to global recognition, including reaching number 50 on the US Billboard chart.
5
“It worked for me when it started here and I got my global hit song from here as well so Ghana is my base,” he emphasized.

J ZyNo’s remarks reflect not only his personal journey but also Ghana’s growing influence as a hub for nurturing and projecting talent across the African continent.
