2 mins readThe Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has taken swift action following disturbing allegations that a hostel in Accra New Town was being used to harbor minors for inappropriate activities.

This follows the circulation of a viral video on social media in which a woman accused Royal Dede Beach Resort—now reportedly operating as a hostel—of permitting minors to engage in intimate acts on its premises.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the GTA, Abeiku Santana, confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on April 23, 2025, that the matter has been formally reported to the Nima Police Division for investigation.

According to Abeiku Santana, the GTA promptly deployed an inspection team to the facility after the allegations came to light. The team discovered that the resort had been converted into a hostel under new management without notifying the Authority, thereby operating outside the bounds of Ghana’s tourism regulations.

“Additionally, our team inspected Royal Dede Beach Resort, which has been converted into a hostel under new management without official notification to the Ghana Tourism Authority,” he stated.
4
He further explained that the facility was found to be in breach of Tourism Regulations 2016, L.I. 2239, which govern the operations of hospitality businesses in Ghana.
5
“The operator has since been directed to the Standards and Quality Assurance Department of the Authority for the necessary regulatory processes,” Abeiku Santana added.
6
While investigations are ongoing, the GTA has assured the public that it will continue to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to ensure that proper actions are taken against any entity found culpable.
7
The Authority also reminded facility operators to strictly adhere to regulatory requirements to prevent such incidents from recurring.
