A man believed to be in his 30s has died after being electrocuted inside a Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) substation in Tamale in what is suspected to be an attempted theft of metal components.
The body has been conveyed by police, while NEDCo has cautioned the public to desist from tampering with its installations.
The incident which occurred on Saturday, October 24, disrupted electricity supply to parts of the central business district, with NEDCo working to restore power.
NEDCo is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Volta River Authority headquartered in Tamale that serves as the sole electricity distributor for over 64% of Ghana's land area covering the five northern regions, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo and parts of Ashanti, Oti and Volta.
