A newborn baby abandoned in a dustbin near the Kasoa Main Station public toilet has been rescued in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

The baby was discovered by a woman who had gone to use the facility. She raised an alarm, prompting bystanders, drivers and residents to rush to the scene, retrieve the newborn and take her to the Kasoa Polyclinic for medical attention.

Police were later informed and have commenced investigations to determine how the baby was abandoned and identify and locate her parents.

Investigators are also working to identify the person responsible for leaving the newborn at the public toilet.
