1 min readIncumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond, has rejected the outcome of the 2024 parliamentary elections, in which he was defeated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani.Hammond, who has represented the constituency in Parliament since 2001, garnered 13,275 votes, while Dorani secured 14,229 votes, thus winning the Adansi Asokwa seat.

Despite the results, Hammond remains adamant in his refusal to concede defeat, citing discrepancies in the election process as his primary reason.Speaking to Joy News on Monday, December 9, as the nation awaited the final presidential election results, Hammond stated, “No, I will not concede,” when asked if he was prepared to accept the loss.

Hammond's objections are centered around alleged irregularities, particularly concerning the colours of the pink sheets issued by Electoral Commission (EC) officials after the polls. He also claimed that some ballot boxes were snatched, and others were missing.

Other prominent members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who have lost their parliamentary seats in the 2024 elections to the NDC include Communications and Digitization Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (Ablekuma West), Interior Minister Henry Quartey (Ayawaso Central), Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Hawa Koomson, Tourism Minister Andrew Egyapa Mercer (Sekondi), and Deputy Works and Housing Minister Prince Hamid Armah.
