Parts of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region will experience power outages today, Friday, October 30, as the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) works on the 161kV Anwomaso-Ahodwo (K1-K2) Transmission Line Upgrade Project.
The exercise, which is expected to be completed by the end of November, aims to strengthen electricity transmission infrastructure and improve the reliability of power supply in Kumasi and surrounding communities.
The outages will be limited to weekdays, excluding weekends. They will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. as work progresses along different sections of the transmission line serving the affected communities.
"Part of the statement read, "This activity requires planned interruptions in electricity supply to some communities along the line route to protect the lives of engineers, other personnel working on the project and members of the public".
This information was contained in a joint statement issued by GRIDCo and ECG on Thursday, October 29.
Meanwhile, Ghana primarily exports electricity to Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso through the 225kV Bolgatanga-Ouagadougou interconnection.
To enhance revenue mobilisation in the energy sector and stabilise power supply, the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition says it will introduce standardised, accurate electricity meters from next month to boost revenue mobilisation and stabilise power supply.
