This call aligns with the Ministry's strategic plan for 2018-2030, which aims to achieve a balanced enrollment ratio of 60% for science and 40% for humanities at the tertiary level. Currently, the ratio of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields stands at 40% while humanities make up 60% of enrollments.

A statement from the Ministry highlighted that they have made significant investments in infrastructure, including the construction and refurbishment of over 300 state-of-the-art laboratories in secondary institutions across the country. These improvements in infrastructure are seen as crucial enhancements to the quality of science education.

The statement also assured prospective students, guardians, and the public that additional vacancies have been created specifically for science courses to accommodate students interested in pursuing a science-based education.
