
Video: Black Stars goalkeeper Ati-Zigi marries Turkish lover in private ceremony

Ghana Black Stars goalkeeper, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, has married his long-time partner, Perihan Kirli, in an intimate and private waterfront ceremony at Kuşadası, in Turkey. The event, which was officiated by Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel and attended only by close family and select guests, happened on Thursday, April 23.
While it is believed that the ceremony was expected to be kept low-key, images and videos have since surfaced online with many congratulating the Black Stars keeper.
Ati-Zigi, who currently plays for FC St. Gallen and is regarded as one of Ghana’s top goalkeepers, looked elegant in a classic suit, while his bride, Perihan Kirli, stunned in a graceful wedding gown that reflected simplicity and sophistication.
About Ati-Zigi and his wifeLawrence Ati‑Zigi is a Ghanaian professional goalkeeper, born on 29 November 1996 in Tamale, and is currently Ghana's first-choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars. He plays for the Swiss side FC St. Gallen in Switzerland. He became Ghana’s starting keeper at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
He began playing locally before joining the Red Bull Soccer Academy in Sogakope (Volta Region) around 2013. About a year later, he progressed through Red Bull Ghana’s youth ranks and then left for Europe in late 2014.
This move at age 18 placed him directly into Austria’s professional second division (2. Liga), giving him exposure to European football standards.
He played 33 matches for FC Liefering between 2015 and 2017. During that same period, he was loaned to FC Liefering, where he gained valuable experience in Austria’s second division, making 33 appearances.
In 2017, he moved to France to join FC Sochaux, where he featured in 23 Ligue 2 matches and developed further under coach Peter Zeidler. His breakthrough came in 2020 when he signed for FC St. Gallen in Switzerland, where he quickly became the first‑choice goalkeeper. Since then, he has made over 197 appearances for the club and secured a contract that runs until June 2027, cementing his role as a key figure in the Swiss Super League.
About his wife, not much is known or has been said about the newly-wedded Turkish wife of Lawrence; however, it is reported that she has supported her now husband since his early days in Europe.
