Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has announced that Thomas Partey will be sidelined for "several weeks" due to a muscle injury sustained on Monday, October 23.
After a 30-day absence caused by a groin injury, Partey returned to action, playing 16 minutes in Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Manchester City. He subsequently participated in both of Ghana's international matches against the USA and Mexico during the break, and he was listed as an unused substitute in Arsenal's 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
The 30-year-old was expected to start in Arsenal's Champions League match against Sevilla but sustained the injury on the eve of the game.
Speaking in anticipation of Arsenal's 5-0 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday, Arteta confirmed that Partey would be unavailable for several weeks.
"He’s got a muscle injury and we are expecting him to be out for a few weeks," said Arteta.
"We don’t really know the extent of it and he has more tests today but he picked up that injury in a training session with the last kick of the ball before Sevilla, so very unfortunate," he added.
Thomas Partey has featured in four games for Arsenal this season.
