2 mins readAsamoah Gyan has postponed the All Regional Games, initially scheduled to start this year, to 2025.Launched in July 2024, the event was designed to unearth sporting talent from across Ghana, with trials already underway to identify top athletes.In a statement, Gyan explained that the delay would enable organizers to "create a larger and more impactful competition."A new date for the 2025 event will be announced soon.
The regions were responsible for holding trials to select their finest athletes, aged 18 to 23, who would compete against their peers from other regions.
competition was set to feature nine sports: Football, Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, Table Tennis, Boxing, E-sports,The statement continued: “The All Regional Games remains dedicated to its mission of identifying and developing
athletes who can proudly represent Ghana on the international stage.“To our registered athletes, rest assured that your data remains secure, and you will be given priority for the 2025 edition. New athletes will also be welcomed, with the same rigorous regional trials in place to ensure fair selection and representation.
”Asamoah Gyan initially collaborated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the All Regional Games, after being appointed in February as the chairman of the Youth and Sports sub-committee for the party's manifesto team.
However, six months later, the former Black Stars captain announced his decision to withdraw from the NPP, citing a desire to focus on humanitarian efforts and admitting that he hadn't "done right by the youth and people of Ghana."
