Afrobeats sensation Ayo Balogun, widely recognized as Wizkid, has been seen in a moment of emotional distress at his mother's wake-keeping ceremony. His mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, passed away on August 18, 2023, in London.
The image of Wizkid in tears at the wake-keeping ceremony reflects the deep emotional impact of losing a loved one, and it resonates with many who have experienced such grief and loss.
Wizkid’s mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, died on August 18, 2023 in London.
The Afrobeat star said the pain of losing his mum ‘hurts deeply’.
He said, “The pain is profound. It hurts deeply. The deepest pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m lost but I pray God will comfort everyone of us,” Wizkid said at his mum’s wake-keep ceremony which took place on Thursday.
A candlelight procession to honor the memory of the singer's mother was conducted on Wednesday. This event marked Wizkid's first public appearance in nearly a month, following a period of mourning and silence as he grieved the loss of his mother.
