A video circulating on social media, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag prominently featured during a parade in the Volta Region, raising eyebrows and stirring controversy.
An unidentified young man boldly displayed the NPP flag while school pupils confidently marched on the playground, overshadowing the traditional celebration of Ghana's Independence Day—a national holiday observed annually on March 6.
Originally intended as an occasion to honour and celebrate the heroes who led Ghana to independence, the Independence Day event took an unexpected turn as partisan elements entered the scene.
The shift towards political display during the celebration has triggered a diverse range of reactions on social media, with many expressing their disapproval of the apparent politicization of a day meant to unite and commemorate Ghana's journey to freedom.
