The Police in Tumu in the Sissila East Municipality have arrested three suspected robbers (names withheld) for allegedly terrorizing travellers along Lawra and Jirapa and Jirapa Hamile trunk roads. The robbers were in two separate groups operating from different locations, he said, “The first group was arrested within Tumu area with two accomplices who were identified but now on the runâ€.

He said the alleged accomplices have abandoned their places of abode as Police intensifies search for them. ASP Abanga, said the second group operates between Jirapa and Hamile, “They did an operation in between Jirapa and Hamile and were bringing their booty to Tumu to share when we arrested them.†He said a member of the first group who was arrested in Tumu few days earlier is of Fulani descent.

He said for two months now the area has witnessed an upsurge in armed robbery attacks and that is why the Police are redoubling their efforts to curb them. “That is why we have been trailing some armed robbers who have been operating and terrorizing residents in the Sissala East Municipality and fortunately this morning we trailed them from Jirapa area till they entered Tumu when we arrested them,†ASP Abanga said.
