The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday, September 9, conducted a balloting exercise to determine the positions of candidates contesting its 2026 National Officers’ Election.

The exercise was held at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra, allowing contestants to determine their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the election. The 2026 National Officers’ Election is scheduled for October 3 in the Ashanti Region.

The filing process was closed on Saturday, August 29, paving way for the vetting stage, which began on Monday, August 31 and ended on Thursday, September 3. Fifty (50) individuals had previously expressed interest in contesting the election; however, three of them dropped out for failing to complete the filing process.

The 47 aspirants are contesting nine categories of national officer positions, namely National Chairman, National Vice-Chairperson, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser and National Communications Director.
