Ghanaian singer and entrepreneur Mzbel has voiced her deep concerns about the relentless rise in the cost of living nationwide.
In a heartfelt message, she lamented the soaring prices of essential goods and services, highlighting the profound economic struggles faced by many Ghanaians.
As the owner of a restaurant, Mzbel shared the significant impact these high prices are having on her business.
She revealed the shocking reality of paying GH¢5 for a single tomato, illustrating the difficult task of sourcing ingredients and supplies at affordable rates for her establishment.
Furthermore, in addition to the increasing costs of goods, Mzbel discussed the burden of rising electricity tariffs.
She recounted the high daily cost of GH¢200 for electricity after new meter installations, which is straining her financial resources.
Mzbel strongly urged the government to take decisive actions to stabilize the economy and ease the financial pressure caused by the rising cost of living.
Expressing her frustration, she said, "A single tomato now costs five cedis. I just wanted to make an egg for my child, but when my staff went to buy tomatoes, they came back with one, priced at five cedis. Where are we headed as a nation?
"Every day, I spend 200 cedis on electricity, and it barely lasts 24 hours. Are we supposed to commit suicide? The stress is overwhelming, truly overwhelming. I can't even bring myself to use social media these days."
