On January 3, 2023, a fire destroyed important documents being printed by the Minipack printing press at Kokomlemle, Accra.
Power fluctuation is thought to have triggered the fire, which broke out at noon.
Five printing machines in total, along with additional equipment, were completely destroyed by fire.
After seeing smoke rising from the press, the Ghana National Fire Service was called to the scene.
The facility's business manager, Mr. Sam Yeboah, who was inconsolable, said they had lost roughly a million cedis.
“Finished printing jobs for the GRA – vehicle tax stamps for nationwide distribution all burnt,” he said.
Mr. Yeboah explained that the fire did not only destroy products but also machines which cost a lot of money.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service is alarmed by the increase in cases since December 2022.

The Service says they recorded about 624 fire cases in December 2022 – a 10% increment compared to 2021.
