The video, which depicted the victims in a state of distress, quickly gained traction across various social platforms, prompting immediate action from authorities. Through coordinated efforts, security agencies in Ghana and Nigeria worked together to locate and arrest the individuals believed to be involved in the kidnapping.

A statement issued by the Ghana Police Service confirmed the rescue and arrests, noting that further information would be disclosed as investigations progress.

“The Ghana Police Service extends its heartfelt gratitude to the National Signals Bureau and the Nigeria Police Force for their invaluable support and cooperation in both the rescue and arrest operations,” the statement read.

One of the victims, Ama Serwaa Konadu, a prominent hairdresser and event decorator from Asiakwa in the Eastern Region’s Abuakwa South Municipality, was abducted on April 22 while leaving for work. The following day, her captors sent harrowing videos to her family via her phone, showing her being assaulted with a machete. The kidnappers also demanded a ransom of GH₵500,000 for her release.

The family immediately reported the abduction to the Ghana Police, providing the videos to assist in the investigation. This swift response, in collaboration with other security agencies, led to the successful rescue of the victims and the arrest of the suspects involved.
