1 min readMP for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has voiced concerns over what she describes as intimidation tactics from members of her own New Patriotic Party (NPP) after she chose to run as an independent candidate.

Her claims come in the wake of a recent shooting at one of her rallies, which left four people injured.

Among the wounded were Rasheed Haruna, Nasara Coordinator for Agona West, and the campaign chairman for NPP's parliamentary candidate Chris Arthur, both of whom sustained gunshot injuries. Haruna was reportedly shot in the ribs, escalating tensions around Morrison's independent bid.

In response, Chris Arthur alleged Morrison’s potential involvement in the attack—a claim she firmly denied during an interview on Citi FM on October 28, 2024, calling it unfounded.

"This kind of incident has never happened here before, and I believe they are trying to intimidate me because I chose to stand independently. But it will not deter me… they think I'm here to spoil their votes, but they have no idea I'm here to win," Morrison asserted.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service issued a statement on October 28, 2024, committing to a thorough investigation into the incident. They assured the public of their dedication to ensuring security and bringing the culprits to justice as the election season intensifies.
