Popular Ghanaian actress and television presenter Nana Ama McBrown has confirmed that is divorced from her husband of twelve years, Maxwell Mensah.
In an interview on TV3’s New Day with Cookie Tee, she explained that her divorce was peaceful and she is still in good terms with her ex-husband, Maxwell.
“I’m the most happiest right now. I have done through divorce. Yes, I am divorced. I am, and I am not ashamed to say but I did so beautifully. Me and my husband are cool. We spoke yesterday, we speak today, we speak tomorrow, we meet, I go to our house [to see] my in laws and everything."
Look, I am a happy woman. We are the best of friends. We didn’t go through it like the bitter ones. I was tired, he was tired. We sat down, we said let’s talk about it. Let’s move on,” she said.
She added that although her former in laws and ex husband wanted her to remain in the marriage, she felt unable to continue.
“He is a correct guy. I still feel him but I got tired of the marriage,” the multi talented showbiz personality said.
McBrown said her greatest source of happiness from the marriage is the child she has with Maxwell Mensah, describing their daughter as a treasured blessing.
“I will not marry again. I can give birth again but I won’t marry again,” she noted.
“I have married for 12 years. When you see celebrities that has married for 12 years, applaud them,” she added.
Prior to her public announcement, there had been widespread rumours that the couple were experiencing difficulties in their marriage. Some reports suggested that alleged extra marital affairs on the part of Maxwell Mensah had contributed to the breakdown of the relationship.
Nana Ama McBrown and Maxwell Mensah got married 12 years ago and are blessed with a daughter, Maxine.
Nana Ama McBrown has revealed that she never encountered secret advances from colleagues in the movie industry, attributing this to her openness about her relationships.
“When I entered the movie industry, I didn’t meet anyone who tried to sneak their way into a secret affair with me because I don’t hide my relationships,” she stated. “I can’t hide who I’m with. It’s a must that I show whoever I’m with to the public.”
Recounting her early years in the industry, McBrown shared a fond memory of her first romantic relationship with Morris, a man who played a pivotal role in her acting journey.
“There was a man who gave me my first movie script early in my career, his name is Morris. Every time we were on set, he held my hand and guided me. He taught me a lot of things and helped me navigate through. He’s extremely handsome, soft-spoken, charming, and respectful,” she reminisced.
Describing him further, she said, “A fair-skinned Akuapem man. Everyone can attest to this. Before we finished our project, we became sweethearts.”
McBrown revealed that their relationship was no secret.
“Our relationship became known to a lot of people, and we dated for two and a half years. His family and everyone around him knew me. People didn’t make passes at me because everyone knew about us, and Morris was a highly respected person.”
The interviewer, Kwesi Ernest, playfully remarked, “I’m sure after this, a lot of people will start searching for him.”
McBrown, laughing, responded, “Let them search, he is a nice guy.”
Ghanaian media personality MzGee also set the record straight months ago regarding her relationship with her ex-husband, Raymond Acquah, and the paternity of her child.
Following her pregnancy announcement on January 13, 2025, speculation arose about the father of her unborn child. However, in a YouTube vlog posted on February 27, MzGee clarified that Raymond Acquah, also a media personality, is not the father and urged the public to stop associating him with her child.
"Once upon a time, you knew a certain Raymond Acquah whom I was married to. Unfortunately, we have been separated for three years and officially divorced for two years. So, I have no ties with him," she stated.
She further emphasized her concern about her child's identity, stating, "Now, there is a son involved, and I do not want him growing up confused about his paternity. When people ask who his father is, he should not say Raymond Acquah, no. I have no connection with him anymore."
MzGee and Raymond Acquah were married in 2017, but their union ended in divorce. In 2022, MzGee publicly shared her struggles with childbirth, including a miscarriage after their marriage.
With this clarification, MzGee seeks to put an end to any misunderstandings regarding her child’s paternity while moving forward with her new chapter.
