1 min readPresident John Dramani Mahama has promised to get the Anomabu Fisheries College in the Central Region up and running after presenting his government’s first budget in March.

During his Thank You tour in Anomabu on Thursday, February 6, Mahama shared that he has asked the Fisheries Minister, Emelia Arthur, to work with the Finance Minister to secure funds for the project in the upcoming budget.

The college was started by the NDC government in 2011 but was left unfinished after Mahama left office. The college is meant to train 300 students in sustainable fishing and fish farming. The facility includes classrooms, the principal’s house, fish ponds, boreholes, and a water pumping station.

President John Dramani Mahama assured that only a few things are left to complete the Anomabu Fisheries College.

He explained that the remaining work mainly involves adding furniture, teaching materials, and doing roadworks on the campus to make the college fully operational.

“This is why we have committed to completing all abandoned projects, regardless of which government started them,” Mahama stated. “We will secure funds for the completion, and once phase one is done, we will move to phase two.”

Following the President’s instruction to the Fisheries and Finance Ministers, the project will be given top priority in the upcoming budget to ensure it is completed in the next few months.
