Three deaths have been recorded following a fatal road crash involving a State Transport Company (STC) bus, a fuel tanker, a Mitsubishi pick-up, and a Kia Sorento at Etukrom near Bonsu Junction in the Eastern Region on Monday, August 3.

The latest casualty is an 11-year-old girl who succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. This information was made public Eastern Regional Fire Service Public Relations Officer, DOIII Ohemeng Adu Aaron who was speaking to the media on Tuesday, August 4.

Six others, including five males and one female, have sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at the Hawa Memorial Hospital.

In a related development, one of the pupils who was among the 11 students in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter involved in a crash with a tipper truck has been confirmed dead.

The crash happened on Friday, July 31 at Airport Junction on the Accra Mall–Dzorwulu stretch in Accra. Following the crash, it was reported that none of the students had died but had suffered minimal to serious injuries.

However, barely 24 hours after the incident, one of them, a six-year-old girl who suffered severe injuries in the collision, succumbed to her injuries at about 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, while receiving treatment at the Police Hospital.

Also, a road crash at Bukom after a vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure left one person dead, and 22 others sustained serious injuries. This information was confirmed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodio, Alfred Ashie Kotey, while speaking with the media on Wednesday, July 29.

“As we speak now, one person has died as a result of the situation. Initially, we had about 40 people who were reported injured. When I followed up at the Ussher Polyclinic and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital this morning, I was happy to learn that about 22 of them had sustained quite significant injuries.

Last week, a Kia Rhino truck carrying plantain that collided with a commercial vehicle at the Asafo Labour Roundabout in Kumasi left at least five persons critically injured.

The unfortunate incident occurred after the truck veered off the road while descending from the Amakom direction when the driver lost control.

The crash left five people, including some security personnel, with critical injuries. They were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment. In a related development, Ghana has recorded yet another tragedy after a vehicle plowed into pedestrians at Bukom Junction in the Ga Mashie community, adding to the growing number of road fatalities.

The recent incident, which occurred on Monday, July 27, left several people dead, including a pregnant woman and a child. Weeks ago, a road crash involving two cargo trucks at Asuboi on the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region claimed two lives and left two others injured.

The crash involved a Hyundai truck with registration number GX 7359-14 and a KIA Rhino with registration number GX 857-16.

In a related incident, weeks ago, thirteen people were feared dead and several others injured last week after a collision involving three vehicles at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region.

The vehicles involved were a tomato-laden cargo truck, a passenger bus, and a fuel tanker.According to eyewitnesses, the collision occurred after one of the vehicles attempted to overturn. About the crash

The crash occurred yesterday at around 2:00 p.m. when a tipper truck with registration number GN 9673-25 rammed into a school bus reportedly belonging to Ask God Preparatory School in Ashaiman.

Speaking to Citi News, the Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), King Alex Nartey, said the other children injured in the crash are receiving treatment at various health facilities.

Personnel from the GNFS and the National Ambulance Service responded swiftly to the scene, rescuing the victims before conveying them to hospital for medical attention.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
