This morning, the Parliamentary Committee investigating an alleged plot to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP) is in session.
Presently, the committee is hearing from Superintendent George Asare, whom former NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Bugri Naabu claimed recommended COP George Alex Mensah to him for the position of IGP.
Last Thursday, the committee heard testimony from three police officers, with Superintendent Emmanuel Gyebi being the first to take the stand.
Next was COP George Alex Mensah, who voiced concerns about the actions of the IGP, believing they would have unfavorable consequences for the entire police service.
COP Mensah, a former Director-General of Technical Affairs within the Ghana Police Service, was recorded expressing his apprehension to Bugri Naabu, suggesting that IGP Dampare's actions could potentially lead to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) losing the 2024 election.
