John Dumelo, actor and politician, has attributed the recent stabilization of agricultural produce prices to the beneficial rains. He noted that the increased rainfall has led to higher yields for farmers, which is reflected in the current market conditions.
Dumelo emphasized the importance of government investment in irrigation systems to ensure year-round agricultural productivity. His comments were made in response to the Minister of Food and Agriculture’s announcement that a box of tomatoes now sells for GHC400-500.
Posting on X, Dumelo stated, "The prices will continue to decrease. Many farmers are currently harvesting due to the rain providing a water source. We will soon have an excess supply. It’s not complicated. What we need to invest in are robust irrigation systems that can sustain farms and provide food for the nation year-round. That’s when we will see price stability.”
