Wife of the late former Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, Matilda Amissah Arthur, has opened up about the difficulty she faced in watching her late husband carry on his shoulders the governance of the country.
In excerpts of a yet-to-be-aired interview on JoyNews' PM Express Personality Profile, Matilda Amissah Arthur acknowledged that her late husband assumed a complex role which got her worried, most of the time.
Unable to bear the anxiety of him breaking down due to the complexity of his work, she pleaded with her husband "many times" to resign. But her pleas, she said fell on deaf ears.
The late Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur prior to becoming the Vice President of Ghana from 2012 to 2016, served as Governor of the Bank of Ghana due to his enormous knowledge about the running of an economy.
The economist humbly worked under former President John Dramani Mahama, who remained hopeful in turning Ghana's fate as the late Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur stood by his side.
Two years after being out of office, the unfortunate happened - the death of Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur.
The former Vice President passed away on 29th June, 2018, during a fitness training session.
His death was met with shock; with tons of tributes highlighting his meek outlook and calm approach to life.
A state funeral was held at the Accra International Conference Centre on 27th July, 2018. He was buried at the Burma Camp Military Cemetary.
