1 min readGhanaian broadcaster Bridget Otoo has shared her joy over President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to relieve Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare of his duties and appoint COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as his replacement.

Taking to X on March 14, 2024, Bridget Otoo expressed satisfaction with what she termed as Dampare’s early retirement.

According to her, the former IGP had gone through significant hardship, and his dismissal was ultimately in his best interest.

"I'm happy. This man has suffered for such a long time!" she remarked.

President John Dramani Mahama officially named COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new IGP on March 13, 2025, in a statement issued by Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the Minister of Government Communications.

“President John Dramani Mahama, by Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State, has appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the Inspector-General of Police. He replaces COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare,” the statement read.

It further stated, “COP Yohuno brings forty years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernization and transformation of the Ghana Police Service.”
