During his 3-day tour of the Ashanti Region on June 12, 2024, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received high praise from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The Asantehene commended the NPP flagbearer for his humility and encouraged him to maintain this trait.
Expressing confidence in Bawumia's leadership capabilities, Otumfuo affirmed that should Ghanaians elect him in the upcoming December 7, 2024, presidential elections, he would effectively govern the nation.
"You have not changed; you are still humble. Continue being like this. Give respect to all Ghanaians and take your time to explain what you’re doing for all to hear.
"From what you are saying, if truly Ghanaians accept and you come to power, I know you would work for Ghana to become a better place. So, we are going to pray for you," the Otumfuo said in Twi through his linguist.
Accompanying the vice president were prominent figures of the NPP, including National Chairman Stephen Ntim, Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, and Member of Parliament for Suame Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.
