1 min readGhana Police Service has issued a strong warning, stopping police officers and their families from travelling to Bawku and nearby areas in the Upper East Region due to rising security threats.

In a wireless message sent by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) through the Upper East Regional Police Headquarters, it was revealed that police personnel and their relatives have become targets of unknown attackers in Bawku and surrounding towns.

The directive, which takes effect immediately, bans all police officers and their family members—whether they are from the area or not—from visiting Bawku, including Pusiga and Binduri.

The IGP also ordered that officers already stationed in these high-risk locations must wear proper protective gear and move under armoured guard at all times to stay safe.

The message added that Garu is also considered dangerous and urged all officers to follow the instructions strictly for their own protection.
