The Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina, Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, is stable and doing well after he collapsed at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). A video circulating online shows Dr Sosu collapsing while delivering a speech at a seminar at GIMPA on Thursday, September 24.

However, according to a release signed by Ivan Dzakpasu, Chief of Staff at the Office of the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu has received the necessary medical attention, and he is in a better condition now.

The statement added, “The Office of the Honourable Member of Parliament for Madina, Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, has taken note of reports, videos, and other content circulating on social media concerning an incident involving the Honourable Member during a speech at GIMPA today.

"We wish to assure the general public, constituents, supporters, and well-wishers that Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu is doing well and has received the necessary medical attention. We sincerely appreciate the concern, goodwill, prayers, and numerous messages of support received following the incident".

It concluded, “We kindly urge the public to remain calm, and to avoid relying on unverified reports or speculation circulating on social media. Further information will be communicated through the Office's official channels as and when necessary”.

Francis-Xavier Sosu is a human rights lawyer and politician, currently serving as the Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency. He is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has a strong background in sociology, law, and economic policy management.

Mr Sosu is known for his advocacy for human rights and legal reforms, including his successful efforts to abolish capital punishment in Ghana. His journey from a challenging childhood to becoming a prominent lawyer and politician is a testament to his resilience and dedication to justice.
