Another individual has lost their life due to a shooting incident in Nkwanta, situated in the Oti Region. The region has experienced heightened tensions in recent weeks, leading to the imposition of a curfew in the area.
A total of 12 individuals have lost their lives in the ongoing disturbances, presumed to be linked to land and chieftaincy issues.
In a renewed wave of hostilities, the latest clashes occurred mere days after the Chairman of the Municipal Security Council, Bright Lenwah, disclosed intentions to enhance security measures in response to what he described as a fresh twist in the conflict.
The dispute, according to reports, is spreading to neighbouring communities.
"About two months ago, there were some clashes between some ethnic groups in and around Nkwanta since then these issues keep reoccuring.
"Originally it was happening in the town but due to the heavy deployment of security, the situation has taken a new dimension. Now it is happening in nearby villages and communities," he said.
