Ranking Member of the Finance Committee in Parliament and MP for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, delivered a public lecture titled "Ghana's Economic Mess: Victim of Poor Economic Governance?" at UPSA in Accra on February 28, 2024.

As a vocal critic of the Akufo-Addo government, Adongo did not hesitate to point fingers at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, holding him responsible for overseeing the current economic crisis while serving as Head of the Economic Management Team.

He also addressed Ghana's ongoing IMF programme and criticised the government's decisions leading up to the need for a 17th bailout package.

"Where was our much touted and overhyped economic whizkid, the man with the magic wand, Alhaji Bawumia, the inventor of the Mallam-Atta Market inflation calculator and the rate of change cedi depreciation calculator specialist?," the lawmaker questioned.
