Arsenal's head coach, Mikel Arteta, has officially announced that Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey will be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscle injury he suffered.
During Arsenal's commendable 2-1 victory against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 24 in Spain, the Black Stars' deputy captain was notably absent from the squad.
This season, the defensive midfielder has participated in just five matches.
Fortunately, with the arrival of English midfielder Declan Rice, Arsenal has been able to secure some wins, a departure from previous seasons.
According to Arteta, he said, “He has got a muscle injury. We expect him to be out for a few weeks. He has more tests today. He picked it up in the last training session, the last kick on the ball before Sevilla”, according to Daily Telegraph reporter Sam Dean.
Partey made a return from a previous injury to contribute to Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Manchester City just before the international break.
While on international duty with the Ghana national team, he played a role in their 2-0 and 4-0 losses to Mexico and the United States in October.
However, concerns about Partey's injuries have left many football fans uncertain about his future with the club. Fans have called on Arteta to sell him and find a suitable replacement to fill his position.
Currently, Partey, aged 30, is determined to work his way back into the team.
Nonetheless, there are reports indicating that he will consider his options in the upcoming Christmas period if the situation remains unchanged.
