Popular American-based Ghanaian artist, Amaarae, the made a last-minute decision to withdraw from her scheduled performance at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
This move came hours before the event was set to begin.
In a tweet, Amaarae expressed feeling disrespected by Charterhouse, the production team behind TGMA.
She mentioned that her crew faced disregard, including being denied a rehearsal the night before the show.
Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Ghana, discussed the situation during an interview on Hitz FM.
He explained that there were discrepancies in expectations between Amaarae and the event organizers.
Initially, a specific request from Amaarae was not fulfilled, though it was eventually resolved before the event. However, other undisclosed issues surfaced, leading to Amaarae's decision to pull out.
Klah mentioned that while they addressed the initial request, additional concerns arose later.
He refrained from elaborating on these issues, stating that further discussions would remain private between Amaarae and the organizers.
The TGMA team is reportedly working to address these concerns to avoid similar incidents in the future.
