Twenty-year-old social media influencer, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to take his life and reckless driving that resulted in a serious road crash in Lagos.

The incident has reportedly led to a severe motor accident, during which the suspect’s life and those of other road users were endangered.

A viral video that emerged on Sunday, December 14, 2025, captured the suspect recklessly driving on a public road while broadcasting it live on social media.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, Peller's arrest was confirmed.

“The suspect will be charged in a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law,” the police said.

Commissioner of Police CP Jimoh strongly warned social media influencers, content creators, and the public against taking part in or promoting risky, illegal, or dangerous activities for the sake of content.

He emphasized that such behaviour can threaten public safety and lead to loss of life, making it clear that the Police Command will not tolerate any lawlessness.

“The full weight of the law will be applied to anyone found culpable,” the statement added.

The police also called on all drivers and pedestrians to follow traffic rules closely, emphasizing the Command’s dedication to protecting lives, upholding public order, and promoting safety throughout the state.

In 2024, Ghanaian Musician Kofi Kinaata calmed fears following a car accident on Sunday, September 22, confirming that he escaped without injury while on his way to an event in the Western Region.

During a Facebook Live session, Kinaata detailed the events leading up to the accident, stating, "Everyone is doing well, and thanks for the concerns."

The award-winning singer also dispelled rumors of a driver's death, clarifying that the reports are false.

He explained that their vehicle, while heading to a show in Nkroful, was involved in an accident after a motorbike rider unexpectedly crossed their path.

He mentioned that the individuals on the motorbike sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital, but none of his team members were harmed.

'We are following up on the conditions of those on the motorbike and we will update everyone on the latest development. We are praying for a speedy recovery," he added.

In the same year, Ghanaian gospel artist and preacher Sonnie Badu opened up about a traumatic domestic accident he suffered in December 2023, which resulted in the loss of two toes.

Just days before his highly anticipated Rhythm of Africa Concert on December 9, Badu revealed he had undergone surgeries on his leg following the incident.“I went through depression for six months, I’m left with only three toes,” he said.

Despite his condition, he still performed at the concert in Accra, prompting speculation on social media that his injury might be a publicity stunt a claim he strongly refuted.

Now, in a September 2024 interview on Onua Showtime, Badu shared the harrowing details of the accident. He explained that he slipped while cleaning a staircase, which caused his leg to impale a sharp metal rail, leading to severe injuries.

“I was bleeding everywhere. We drove to the hospital and I walked to the emergency. When the doctors checked, they asked where are my toes. I asked, 'Which toes?' I asked my team members to go check with a torchlight and they saw the toes on the floor, picked it up, placed them in an iced box and brought it to the hospital. The doctors checked and refused it,” he narrated.

Badu also revealed that he battled depression for six months following the accident, stating, “I’m left with only three toes.” During the interview, he showed host Nana Ama McBrown images related to the incident, further validating his account.

Earlier this year, popular Ghanaian musician and socialite, Oseikrom Sikani, survived a terrifying car accident that left his vehicle wrecked but miraculously spared his life.

The accident happened on February 20, 2025, and the artiste took to Snapchat to share his experience. According to him, his car flipped over about eight times, yet he walked away with only minor injuries.

“(The car somersaulted) more than 8 times… I don’t understand. Told you I saw death today, still living my one life,” he posted.

Though he escaped unhurt, he jokingly mentioned that he lost his grills in the crash.

Photos from the scene showed the badly damaged car and some bruises on his body. Fans and well-wishers have since flooded social media with messages of relief and support.

Oseikrom Sikani has assured everyone that he is doing fine and will be back to his usual self soon.
