Ghanaian singer Jackline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, has expressed admiration for Omar Sterling, also known as Paedae, of popular R2Bees fame.
Gyakie says she is always captivated by how Omar Sterling delivers his message through music, including mastery over the art of writing lyrics that are easily decoded.
“Omar Sterling is a poet. I always say it every time that his rap is different. The storytelling: he gives his audience stories about his life or things that are happening in real-time.”
“And it’s the way he puts the lyrics together for the listener to understand what he’s trying to say that always makes me very happy. I think he’s a very good writer, and he’s a good storyteller,” she said during an interview on Joy FM.
Building on her admiration, Gyakie revealed that the rapper has become his favourite among the lot currently in the country.
“My favourite rapper in Ghana right now is Omar Sterling of R2Bees,” Gyakie said.
Omar Sterling is known for his deep, reflective lyrics and his laid-back flow.
While he has always been part of the group R2Bees alongside Mugeez, he has also made a name for himself as a solo artiste.
While he still releases music under the R2Bees umbrella, he has also put out notable solo projects.
Here are some of the songs by Omar Sterling: Bayla Boys Company, Makola dreams, Victory through Harmony, Solid as a Rock, Kwame Nkrumah, Don't Waste My Time, A Mountain Full of Gold, C1 Boys, Exotic Flow, among others.
Gyakie on the other hand, is a Ghanaian R&B and Afro-fusion singer who released "Love is Pretty", as her first single in 2019, which paved the way for another single, "Never Like This." In August 2020, the "Forever" song from her five-track EP Seed enjoyed airplay and led the charts in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria.
She has currently released a new single, “Sankofa,” a soulful anthem that explores the power of reflection and emotional truth. Co-written with longtime collaborator Eyram Gbewonyo (Afrolektra)
