Black Sherif has earned a nomination for Best International Act at the 2025 BET Awards, becoming the only Ghanaian artist recognised in this year’s lineup.
This exciting milestone comes after a busy year for the musician, who recently dropped his second album Iron Boy and wrapped up a successful tour across North America.
He’s currently performing in Europe, with stops in cities such as Antwerp, Belgium.

Born Mohammed Ismail Sharrif, Black Sherif is now in the running with top international stars including Ayra Starr and Rema from Nigeria, Tyla from South Africa, Any Gabrielly and MC Luanna from Brazil, Joé Dwèt Filé and SDM from France, Bashy and Ezra Collective from the UK, and Uncle Waffles from Eswatini.
This is Black Sherif’s first time being nominated at the main BET Awards, after receiving a nod at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2023. It’s also a big moment for Ghana, as he becomes the first Ghanaian to be recognised in this particular category since it was renamed in 2018.
The 2025 BET Awards will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a live show on June 9 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Black Sherif’s nomination marks another major step for Ghana’s music industry, joining the legacy of earlier nominees like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy.
