The Turkish government on Sunday morning dismissed a total of 18,601 personnel from state institutions, including 199 academics from various universities, and also shuttered twelve associations, three foundations, one newspaper by means of a new state of emergency decree, known as a KHK, the Hürriyet daily news reported.
According to the report, in line with decree No. 701, 3077 members of the Turkish land forces, 8998 from the security general directorate, 240 from the directorate of religious affairs (Diyanet), 1052 from the ministry of justice and 1126 from the naval forces command were dismissed.

Turkish government has so far suspended or dismissed more than 150,000 judges, teachers, police and civil servants since July 15 through government decrees issued as part of an ongoing state of emergency.
Turkey survived a military coup attempt on July 15, 2016 that killed 249 people and wounded more than a thousand others. Immediately after the putsch the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government along with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pinned the blame on the Gülen movement.
The movement denies any involvement.
Died in June, fired in July
Among the victims of the latest government decree is a retired engineer who died of cancer on June 16, 2018. Yusuf Fındık was fired from his job a month after he died.

Cem Terzi, a well-known colorectal specialist, is among the victims of the latest government decree. Professor Terzi was fired from his job at İzmir Dokuz Eylül University on terror charges.
