One person has been shot dead at Kariama, a suburb of Bawku following sporadic gunshots in the area on Tuesday.
The event occurred between 11 and 12 midnight.

The deceased is yet to be identified but is believed to be in his mid-twenties.

The Bawku Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Yao Tettegah told Graphic Online that although rumours were rife that the attack was linked to an ethnic conflict, the police were treating the case purely as a criminal matter.

He said investigations have begun to arrest the culprits; while security has been beefed up in the area.

He further noted that the situation had been brought under control.
