One of the leading presidential hopefuls of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sylvester A. Mensah, received an enthusiastic welcome to the Northern Region on Thursday afternoon.

Some prominent chiefs, led by the Demanaa of Dagbon, and their entourage came to the Tamale Airport to meet him and escorted him into the city to begin his tour.

The welcoming party included scores of party members on motorbikes who led him from the Tamale Airport into the waiting arms of Gulkpe Naa, Alhassan Abdulai of Tamale.

Naa Alhassan Abdulai welcomed Mr Mensah and his entourage to the Northern Region and encouraged him to reach out to all delegates in the region with his message.

He commended him for his message of unity, rewarding loyalty and prosperity for all.

The Gulkpe Naa assured Mr. Mensah of his support and urged him to stand firm and win the party’s leadership position for the collective good of the party and the country.

The team begins constituency visits on Friday and indications are that party members and delegates are anxious to meet the man of the moment, Sylvester Adinam Mensah.

Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah formally declared his bid for NDC presidential ticket a week ago.

Mr Mensah appears unfazed by the keen competition he is likely to face in the National Democratic Congress’ presidential race in  2020.
