Spokesperson of FIFA’s Liaison Team mandated to oversee the National teams of Ghana, Dan Kwaku Yeboah, says the team did not impose Coach Bashir Hayford on the senior female national team, Black Queens.

According to him, Bashir Hayford was proposed by interim Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo herself.

According to Mr Yeboah, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo who guided the Black queens to lift the maiden WAFU Zone B tournament in Cameroon earlier this year told the Liaison Team that it will be a rush to make her lead the Black Queens to the AWCON 2018.

She, therefore, asked to be allowed to understudy an experienced manager.

“We did not impose Coach Bashir Hayford on the Black queens like it is being peddled out there. Mercy Tagoe told us she would rather understudy an experienced coach and build herself up to the top than accept the head coach job and fail”, he said.

“She further suggested Bashir Hayford since she will be comfortable working with him and we thought it was an opportunity to groom her so we obliged to her choice”, he added.
