Limited Voter Registration: 82,831 new voters registered in 6 days – EC

In just six days of the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise, the Electoral Commission (EC) has successfully registered a total of 182,831 new voters.

Commencing on September 12, 2023, this 21-day initiative is aimed at registering two categories: those who have come of age, reaching 18 years, and eligible Ghanaians who have not previously registered with the Commission.

However, Mrs. Mensa, while addressing journalists at the “Let the Citizens Know” series on September 18, disclosed a revision in the registration target.

The new goal is to enroll 52 percent of the total target population during the current exercise.

Mrs. Mensa further elaborated that out of the 182,831 registered individuals, 53.9 percent were male, while 46.1 percent were female.

Breaking down the regional statistics, she noted that the Ashanti Region led with the highest number of registrants at 29,255, constituting 16 percent of the total registrations.

Following closely were the Greater Accra and Eastern regions with 27,264 (14.9 percent) and 19,327 (10.6 percent) registrants, respectively.
