J.B Danquah murder: ‘Dondon’s’ confession total rubbish, will go nowhere – Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has described the recent claims by prime suspect standing trial for the alleged murder of the late NPP Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North Constituency, Daniel Asiedu as ‘rubbish’ claims which should be thoroughly investigated.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile program Saturday, Mr. Baako who expressed skepticism about the claims explained that several names which have prior to this been mentioned in connection with the murder have with time, proven to have been merely ‘fabricated’ to get at ‘targeted’ persons.

“First it was pointed at one person in the NDC camp…. Subsequently, my own Anas has been targeted as the one who organized the murder and here we are, the NPP, a corporate entity is being targeted, this is a very interesting case”, he said.

“Because of the history of such things, I remain very skeptical when I hear such things. People have soon forgotten there was a guy who was convicted for the serial murder of women, Ebo Quansah, people have forgotten that after he was convicted and condemned to prison custody, he came out and said Mr. Rawlings said he knew 14 senior cabinet ministers who committed that offence and if that was the case, he should be released, this was 2003. In 2007, a recorded so-called confession of this guy was put on air claiming that it was some NPP members who asked him to commit this offence”, he further stated.

The outspoken journalist who believes it may just be a staged plot on the part of the suspect and his cohorts explained that such persons have ‘professional advisors’ with them in prison custody who take up the role of coaching them with various ‘smart tricks’ to use to outwit judges in court.

“In prison, some sort of coaching goes on there…I’ve been there before and I’ve been part of arrangements, people sitting and planning what one should go and say and not say, it happens, it’s a sub-culture. Because of that history, I’m actually very skeptical, people who commit offences and are arrested and are on trial especially when the case is protracted, they also listen to the news, read newspapers, hear all sorts of things and they have friends there, very organized, professional convicts, who’ve been there for years, some of them are better than lawyers and judges, they know the ins and outs of the judicial system, of law and things, you’ll be amazed and they coach”.

“But they listen to things going on and try to weave it into their system. I don’t believe this gentleman, I’ll be honest with you, that’s my instinct”, he told Host Sampson Anyenini on the show.

He called for massive interrogation of the issue to ensure that the issue is dealt with in the most appropriate way.

“Because of how we’ve gone about this matter, it will get nowhere but it has to be subjected to interrogation because of how we do our politics here or it will have a lasting effect”.

Background

Daniel Asiedu, prime suspect in the murder case of the late J.B. Danquah threatened to mention the names of people he alleges contracted him to kill the legislator in court Wednesday.

Daniel Asiedu who gave a voluntary confession to the court said he was contracted by some persons within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to murder the MP for the Abuakwa North constituency.

In his confession, the accused also said after his arrest the alleged persons who contracted him approached him to accuse certain persons within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of hiring him.

Daniel Asiedu further added that a promise by his contractors to get him freed when the NPP comes to government has not been met hence his decision to spill the beans.

After the judge asked whether he was making the confession because of the promise or out of a threat, Daniel Asiedu, nicknamed Sexy Don Don, said he is making the confession because he is now a changed person and wants the truth to be out.

After the judge asked whether he was making the confession because of the promise or out of a threat, Daniel Asiedu, nicknamed Sexy Don Don, said he is making the confession because he is now a changed person and wants the truth to be out.

Daniel Asiedu and one other person, Vincent Bosso, have been charged with murder and abetment of the murder of the late MP.

The late J.B Danquah-Adu was stabbed to death on February 9, 2016, at his Shiashie residence in Accra. Daniel Asiedu who was the prime suspect was arrested two days after the incident with his accomplice picked several weeks later.
