Veteran Nigerian singer John Odafe Asiemo, known as Daddy Showkey, has disclosed that he has been subjected to death threats in the wake of his comments concerning the controversial death of rapper Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023.
Daddy Showkey’s previous remarks, made during an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, insinuated that there might be more to the rapper’s demise and implicated influential figures within the music industry and society.
During a subsequent appearance on Daddy Freeze’s Instagram live session on Monday night, Daddy Showkey revealed that he had been receiving threats, including those from individuals within the government, since he made his initial statements regarding the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
He said, “Daddy Freeze, do you know after my last interview with you, I received a lot of death threats? Do you know after that interview, even people in government were threatening me?
“I told them that they should go and watch your interview, did I said anything wrong? And what I’m saying, I’m saying the truth. You would not believe what I went through. I did not sleep throughout that night. They were just threatening me.
