Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, has sworn to beat up Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, if he messes up with him.

Obviously annoyed by Mr Agyapong’s description of him as someone who is “dumb” and “daft”, Alhaji Muntaka said he would unleash his wrestling prowess on the Assin legislator if he continuous to hurl insults at him in public.

Mr Agyapong is reported to have described the Asewase MP as dumb and unintelligent for referring him to Parliament’s Privileges Committee.

But reacting to the latter’s apparent invectives at him on Citi FM, Alhaji Muntaka, said he would pummel Mr Agyapong into submission, to teach him a lesson “he will never forget”.

“If he I meet him at the corridors of parliament and he tries to mess up with me, I will beat him up mercilessly. I am a Zongo boy and Zongo boys are not cowards. I will deal with him ruthlessly, who does he think he is?

“If Ken Agyapong thinks he is a man like me, he should bring it on and I will shut him up for Ghanaians to see he is not the only man in the country.

“Ken thinks money is everything. Seriously, if he thinks money is everything then he is very poor, poor indeed,” Alhaji Muntaka stressed.

Background

Parliament last week summoned the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong before the Privileges Committee.

This follows a motion brought before the speaker by Minority Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, on comments allegedly made by Kennedy Agyapong about the Majority leader and Parliament.

Kennedy Agyapong is reported to have described the House as “useless” for having Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu as its Majority leader.

The MPs on both sides of the aisle agreed to the request to haul Kennedy Agyapong before the Committee. Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Muntaka Mubarak stated that he had in his possession, a recording of Ken Agyapong’s comments.

“I have the video and a lot of publication to have referred to Parliament as useless. Mr Speaker, I have the tape here, our colleague is referring to this House as useless. If I am to paraphrase, ‘if this house is not useless, we will not have the likes of Osei Mensah Bonsu to be its leader’, ” he said.
