Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the minister of employment and labor relations who oversees the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has stated that he is not paid as a minister of state.
He claims that when the president appointed him as a minister, he chose to accept the salary of a Member of Parliament (MP) out of conviction.
He claimed that as a member of parliament, he is entitled to all rights.
He clarified that he was at ease with the compensation offered to members of parliament.
Mr Baffour Awuaj added that he decided to do so because he does not want to be caught in a double-salary web.
The minister, who is the MP for the Sunyani West Constituency in the Bono Region, made this disclosure while speaking in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
