Alhaji Fuseini Maiga, a member of the New Patriotic Party Council of Elders, has appealed to the government to reject homosexuality because it is an abomination. He said Allah frowns upon such devilish acts and the silence of the people only means encouraging it adding that homosexuality was punishable by hell fire.
Alhaji Maiga made the appeal in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday. He narrated the Qur’anic story of the city of Sodom and Gommorrah which practised same sex marriage openly bringing upon themselves Allah’s wrath at the height of their sins.Alhaji Maiga who founded the Nasara Wing of the party, commended Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, Speaker of Parliament who recently warned that Ghana would not countenance the aggressive push by Western countries to accept homosexuality.
He even vowed to resign rather than preside over gay debate in Parliament of which he received teeming praise and support from a large section of the Ghanaian population. The Christian Council of Ghana have also said it will resist any move to legalise homosexuality calling it a threat to Africa’s social set up.
Alhaji Maiga who is the Nkosuohene of Dego, near Nsawam, called on Fathers not to shirk their responsibilities but contribute to the upkeep of the home as ‘we celebrate Fathers Day on June 17’.
