‘Gobe reigns’ – See how Ghanaian football supporters jubilated at the sight of gari and beans at stadium during Ghana- Madagascar game

During the Black Stars’ match at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, November 17, 2023, some Ghanaian football supporters took a break to enjoy the popular Ghanaian dish, beans and gari, commonly known as ‘Gobe.’

In the midst of the 2026 World Cup qualifier match, a supporter wearing the Ghana jersey pulled out his ‘Gobe,’ and as he began eating, other supporters joined in, chanting, “Y3 b3 di” (We will eat).

Despite the unexpected communal feast, the owner of the ‘Gobe’ maintained composure, nearly breaking down in tears at one point.

Some supporters were even captured requesting to partake in the meal.

The match saw Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams scored a last-minute goal for Ghana against Madagascar, marking his inaugural goal for the Black Stars at the vibrant Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
